If you can get someone to play it with, do it! Its one of the greatest co-op experiences. Japans most successful PSP title, Monster Hunter Portable 2G, is heading to. I absolutely recommend Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. Create a backlog, submit your game times and compete with your friends. There is bigger variety in maps, monsters, weapons and armors.
Content wise its much bigger game than portable 3rd. Sure, it lacks switchaxe, onehanded sword is kinda meh and there is huge problems with hitboxes while battling some monsters ( I look at you plesioth) but these are minor issues when you look at the game as a whole. Monster Hunter Unite on the other hand is outstanding. I played it online recently and I saw people on HR6 ( the highest HR in MH3rd) still wearing this armor.
This armor was so overpowered compared to the other armors you could make at this moment, that I was set for nearly end of the game. The second armor I made was from Zinogre. I dont remember what was my first armor, IIRC it could be from Rathalos. Also because you progress through the game so fast, you rarely change armors. I liked starting with smaller monsters and doing gathering quests. You start hunting bigger monster like Rathalos and Rathian very quickly and I hated that aspect.
